PROGRAM: Andrea Paquette, “Living with Bipolar Disorder”.
Andrea shared her personal story of growing up with Bipolar Disorder, including getting a degree in Political Science at UVIC, although for many years she was unaware of her condition. In simplistic terms, Bipolar is a mood disorder or psychosis where the person experiences exaggerated mood swings from highs to lows, accompanied by grandiose ideas, inflated sense of self-importance, seeing, hearing and feeling things that aren’t true.
In order to help stomp out the stigma associated with bipolar, Andrea set up a website www.bipolarbabes.com as a mental health advisor and educator and in 2010 set up the Bipolar Disorder Society of BC. In 2015 she was the Courage to Come Back Award winner.
SERGEANT AT ARMS: Roger, Jack MacAulay, Barry & Channing were fined for various misdeeds.
