President-Elect, Jack Gallop, announced that the new District Governor would be visiting the area in late August and that the Sooke Club will be holding a BBQ.  We are invited to join in that BBQ as it will make it easier for the District Governor to meet with both clubs at the same time.  Our members can decide either way.  More details to follow.

PROGRAM:
John was introduced by Cosmo.  Since John’s last visit to the club, he has been to Rwanda again.  Rwanda is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa and the country is also one of the safest in Africa.  Rwanda’s food production is the only source of revenue for the country and there are no other industries or business in the country.  Rwanda is located in the center of Africa.

John presented a slide show of pictures of his team and some of the people from the village where his work is done.  The team has a new member, a woman.  The team consists of four individuals.  John was coaxed into sponsoring an orphan on his last visit.  The child lives with the family of one of his team members.  Since then, two other orphan children have joined the same family.  John said the cost to sponsor a child is only $30 per month which provides food, clothing and schooling.  John’s team has been working on latrine projects in the area.

SERGEANT AT ARMS:  Ian was Sarge tonight.  Fined were Roger for wearing jeans, Carolyn for announcing that she and Ian were busy on Sunday, Barry (just because).

Happy & Sad Dollars:  Tara was happy because she and Jonathan have bought a house which will be constructed and ready to move into later in the fall of this year.

50/50 DRAW:  John Jordan was the lucky ticket winner, but not so lucky when it came time to pick the blue marble.
