Meeting called to order by Cosmo at 6:35 pm

Rose Bowman: Sitting District Governor

Leon Bowman: District Governor’s husband

Dan Mercer: Assistant District Governor

 

As this was the District Governor’s official visit, the meeting was turned over to her. She highlighted the District Conference coming up in late spring, introduced her husband and brought greetings from the Rotary International President K. R. Ravindran (Ravi), and the Rotary theme “Be a gift to the world”. 

 

Rose then outlined how her life was impacted by growing up in Arkansas on a farm as a young girl, sitting around the dinner table listening to Missionaries tell stories of far off places they had visited in developing countries. She also talked about how she transitioned from being a Rotary member, to being a true Rotarian.  This transition occurred when she met a G.S.E. student from Mexico, arranged for her Rotary Club to get a used bus for their town, and making the long drive down to deliver the bus. 

 

Rose concluded her presentation by talking about the Rotarian goal of eradicating Polio around the globe, and how close we are in the Polio campaign, with only two countries left.

 

Dan talked about his Club’s, Sidney by the Sea, 50/50 draw, with more information to come.

 

Barry collected a “donation to Christmas loonie” from all members.  Additional loonies collected as Happy and Sad dollars.

 

Cosmo had the ticket but no luck.
