Minutes for meeting of June 10, 2015

President Gordon led us with 0 Canada
Invocation by Dan Rippin
Guest tonight was Lori Lumley from Cops for Cancer Organization.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. Gordon advised us that he had spoken to Cosmo and that Cosmo would prefer a very low key installation with only a bare minimum show of pomp and circumstance. Accordingly we will not be having an installation BBQ at Roger's house as was previously announced. Instead we will have a laid back event with no special guests other than Spouses and will do the honours at our regular Golf Club location. What there is of formalities will be handled admirably by our Past District Governor Jack MacAuley. The date is July 8th at our regular time-6:30PM

2. Our roster for July 1st Sidney Days has been filled. Thank you for volunteering.

3. The Car Raffle seems to be motoring along. Our Club Banner has been returned to its lofty perch.

4. Jack M attended the annual ceremonies of the Air Cadets at the somewhat unusual hour of 7:45 on Sunday June 7th when most of us are barely up answering our emails! The Cadet Core has been in existence for 57 years and our club has participated in various aspect with them for most of the those years. We typically contribute an award for best marksmanship.

5. Further discussion occurred concerning our potential participation in the SBTS lottery event. There was not a lot of appetite shown around the room but Gordon was authorized to let their president Bob Leitch know that we would not make a final decision until regulatory approval is obtained and all hoops have been jumped.

PROGRAM
Lori Lumley, former Victoria City Police, came to the Club and gave a very well spirited report concerning her experience as a rider with Cops For Cancer. You will recall that our Club made a contribution to Lori's cause prior to the ride and at that time she committed to coming back post-ride to let us know how it went. In a sometimes emotionally touched recollection of her ride, Lori let us all know what a moving, mental, educational, sharing and physical event she endured and how worthwhile it was to support the Cops for Cancer event and of course the Canadian Cancer Society. Good on you Lori Lumley and for Ian for following up with Lori to arrange for this report.

SERGEANT AT ARMS - Rob Christie did the honours tonight and collected a few shillings for the cause ..
