Meeting Notes for May  20, 2015
 

Announcements:

 

1.  Two important committees at the District level - Project Unity Committee and Public Relations Committee are operational and we need to be prepared to serve on one of them if asked.

 

2.  Car Rally - Ian has additional ticket books he will bring to the meeting on May 27th.  Please continue to sign up for shifts - each Rotarian is expected to sign up for 3 two hour shifts for the duration which continued to August 8th.  Our club is also asked to contribute labor to the logistical positioning of the car - i.e., moving it from the storage location in Songhees to/from the various ticket selling sites during the weeks from June 30 to July 12.

 

3.  Canada Day in Sidney - Barry has booked the truck tome the games to and from the location in Sidney and Roger will be sending out the sign up sheets for working the games.

 

4.  MS Campaign - our clubs collected ~$400 over the 2 days.  Hats off to Jack Macaulay for organizing this effort.

 

5.  Directors Meeting to be held on June 1st 7:00 PM at the Benn’s home - 1632 Mayneview Terrace.  The incoming Board is welcome to attend the planning meeting as well.

 

Program:

 

Dr. Penny Seth-Smith - a Naturopathic Family Physician - gave a detailed presentation on naturopathic medicine; its history, how it fits with traditional medicine and treatment philosophy (i.e., emphasis on prevention and promotion of health).  Her presentation was followed by a lively Q&A session.

 

Sergeant at Arms:

 

Tara tried the ‘happy’ approach to collecting fines (voluntary) without much success!  So she reverted to the traditional fine approach and got a few bucks in the pig.  Some happy dollars were also contributed - the Leng’s for good trip to the UK and New England and Carolyn for a good vacation in Hawaii.

 

50/50 Draw:

 

Hermman got the nod, but did not pull the blue marble.  More money for another week.
