Program
Speaker: District Governor Michael was at our meeting to give us a short presentation of the latest Rotary news.  He has visited all 88 Clubs in our District twice (or almost).  That is quite an accomplishment time wise and he mentioned he had not gained any weight!  Michael invited everyone to the District Conference above mentioned.  He acknowledged that the email load for him was substantial and bureaucracy of Rotary was growing.  His job lasts about 3 or 4 years counting the pre and post years.  He also mentioned that the new focus for Rotary may be dealing with Malaria in coming years but that has not yet been decided.  Peace-keeping is also a possibility for Rotary to concentrate on.
Finally, our DG stressed that new members need to be the focus on club growth and suggested that mergers were not always the best answer.

Assistant Governor Dan gave us an very good summary of the structure of our Rotary world and included sections on International, Zones, Districts and areas as well as the individual clubs.  Much appreciated Dan!

Sgt at Arms – none tonight
Happy Dollars: none tonight
50/50 Draw:     No winner… the Pot grows!
Next meeting is May 13th. ….It is a CLUB IN A PUB night.  Please bring your spouse or guest.  It will be held at the Brentood Bay Resort in the Pub Mezzanine lever upstairs from the main Pub.  We have invited members of the Brentwood Club to join us.
As an aside……we will need to formalize plans for next year very soon.  If you have any thoughts please talk to Cosmo who is always prepared to listen.  There will be a Directors meeting soon to discuss the upcoming year’s Budget and generally the plans for the Club.  Each Director should begin planning for things like community and international projects, club events, etc.
