PROGRAM
Steelhead LNG spoke about the proposed Malahat LNG Project. Speaker was Alex Brigden.

The proposed project is at the beginning stages and will take around 2 years to undergo a very rigorous process which includes an environmental assessment to understand the potential effects of the project.

The project site is at Bamberton.  Ideal location because it is a deep Bay and easy access.  There would be 3 floating facilities and 1 floating storage unit moored to the shoreline.  The Shipping boat would come to the facility around every 4 to 6 days. Some of the Natural Gas is used for the ship and the facilities for fuel. We were assured that there wouldn't be much pollution at all, it would be the same as our kitchen stoves/oven.

The IGC would travel through Washington State from Sumac to Cherry Point in Washington and then travel along the ocean floor to land directly at the proposed Malahat LNG facility.

There was concern from our members if any of the floating facilities would blow up and what effects it would have on its surroundings.  Alex seemed confident that it wouldn't happen.  He also explained how well the ship containers are built and that if in a collision, there would be no worries.

November 19 and the 25 – LNG 101 information sessions being held, lunch or dinner options available. Contact Carol Greaves: carol.greaves@steelheading.com
