This evening's presentation was about the Victoria Native Friendship Centre.  Our presenters were Corine Sagmeister, Team Leader of the Aboriginal Infant Development Program and Jennifer Polack, a co-op student.  Corine gave us an introduction to the Victoria Native Friendship Centre which has been in existence for over 45 years and provides services to more than 20,000 Aboriginals in the Greater Victoria area. The centre addresses the community’s needs by delivering care and employment services, health and social Programs, youth initiatives and a host of other activities. A multi culture based licensed daycare facility is now being built for up to 70 infants and toddlers.  Fundraising for this project is ongoing.  Jennifer informed the club members about the Urban Village project called  ”Siem Lelum “ (Respected House) and a kinetic playground.  For more information on the Victoria Native Friendship Centre and their current fundraising, please visit their website at http://www.vnfc.ca
