Our speaker this evening was Joanna Verano, Director of fund Development and Communications with the Habitat for Humanity.   Joanna gave a comprehensive and informative presentation on Habitat for Humanity (Victoria) emphasizing the organization’s work on the Peninsula (one ‘build’ planned to stat this month, and ten homes planned for next year) in addition to the 22 homes in the district since 1999, when the organization started.  Joanna also spoke about the importance of the Re-Store operations and invited all to the opening of the third store this coming Saturday.  She challenged all present to get involved as donors, volunteers, organizing and funding a ‘Team Build’ group and shopping at the Re-Store.  Lastly, she answered questions about processes and guidelines within Habitat for Humanity and encouraged everyone to ‘spread the word’ widely in order to encourage applications for home ownership.  Jack G. thanked Joanna and recognized her with a certificate acknowledging her presentation as well as a donation to Rotary’s work to end polio.
