Speaker- Dennis Sutton, Rotarian and renowned cake maker. Introduced and thanked by President Gordon.

Subject- small countries and their role in the world. There are 193 official countries who are members of the U.N. 114 have populations of less than 5 million. Each member country has one vote at the U.N., doesn’t matter on the size.

Dennis ran through the problems these counties have due to their size, lack of resources, etc. Many of them rely on support from some of the major powers to maintain their diplomatic presence. As a result they are beholden to their supporters, and vote as they are instructed—Democracy? A very thoughtful topic, over which we have no control.

Dennis was also seeking purchasers for his Christmas cake, a major Rotary fund raiser.

Sgt at Arms. Rob Christie.

Fined Barry for showing off his body at Panorama( Rob gets closer to the mirror so looks more muscular).

Dennis for peddling his cake.

Happy $’s- Roger for having a good cruise. Leta/ Cosmo. Jack Gallop for attending a wedding in Toronto.

Marble draw—Carolyn had the ticket but no luck.

Many thanks to Barry for providing the notes so quickly - it is greatly appreciated.

Remember next week’s meeting at Mary’s Bleu Moon at 6.00pm.
