WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Club fees for the new year will be due on or before the 1st Sept 2016  a gentle reminder by President Jack G
Carolyn reminded club that spouses could attend the club as “family class members which is  covered under their spouses membership
 
Roger updated members on the  current status of the Bus Shelter project
John j informed the club he had the approval from the relevant parties Re. BBQ project at the “Cadboro  Bay Festival
PROGRAM:  Victoria Native Friendship  Centre
Corine     gave us an introduction to the Victoria Native Friendship Centre which has been in existence for over 45 years, while providing services for over 20,000 Aboriginals in the greater Victoria area. The centre addresses the community’s needs by delivering Care and employment services, Health and Social Programs Youth initiatives and a host of other activities. A multi culture based licensed Daycare facility is now being built for up to 70 infants and toddlers which currently have a shortfall of aprox $50000.00 on this project.
Jenifer Then went on to inform the club of the Urban Village project called  ”Siem Lelum “   (Respected House)  and a Kinetic Playground The prime purpose of this project is to create a safe ,affordable supported and holistic village. It will consist of 41 -50 units , 19-25 units for single young working or in school young adults .
In will also encompasses young families and grandparents raising children who are at risk of becoming homeless along with benefits from living in a supportive environment. They will learn parenting and life skills necessary for their self-empowerment. This Project has a shortfall of $600000.00
 
Donations can be made through the Victoria Native Friendship Centre website www.vnfc.ca
Donations will be acknowledged on a wall plaque in the community Building.

SERGEANT AT ARMS: Ian was at his usual best charging most attendants for the clubs real and imagined misdemeanors
 
50/50 Draw:  There were no 50/50 draw
 
 However we had a raffle prises were Victoria native Centre T shirts . They were won by three club members
