Sara Pash and Audrey Cooper (speaker)- Therapeutic Riding Association

John Joynt-Royal Oak Rotary Club.

 

Jack Gallop talked about our 50th Anniversary in August. Plans to be finalized.

 

Stelly’s- e-mail sent out about volunteering. Dan Rippin to attend.

 

Tara talked about advertising on the Rotary website- request turned down.

 

District Governor visit, proposal for a joint bar b que, Dan Mercer to be asked to attend one of our meetings to discuss this matter, members are not in favour of going to Sooke.

 

RYLA, a second RYLA to be held in Canada, further discussion next week.

 

Audrey Cooper, who runs the Therapeutic Riding Program, outlined what they do for the handicapped, and other individuals.  She gave four different examples of success in helping, amazing results.

 

One lady started off in a wheelchair and after 8 years is hoping to compete in the Olympics.  Another youngster who could only ride a bicycle with training wheels at 10, graduated after horse riding to no wheels.

 

The association’s riding facility is on Veyaness Road. Any form of help, and donations will be much appreciated. The Victoria Foundation assist them in a large manner.

 

Hermann solicited cash from the members, always thought that the Sergeant was responsible for decorum, etc.

 

Carolyn had the ticket, but no luck in finding the blue Marble
