WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Rotary District 5020 is offering a new opportunity for youth leadership training.  The pilot conference is scheduled at Camp Qwanoes in Crofton, BC on OCT 28-30, 2016.  RYLA is also scheduled for Tacoma.
 
Roger discussed his recent visit to Halliburton Farms and a construction project there that was recently completed.  He recommended that our club make a cash donation of approximately $500 to the farm.
 
PROGRAM:  Staff Sergeant Mallard
S/Sgt. Mallard joined the RCMP in 1990 and has since served in Manitoba, the NWT, Ottawa, Baffin Island, Port Hardy, Bella Bella, Campbell River and Victoria.  She has commanded Sidney/North Saanich RCMP since 2015.
 
The local RCMP Detachment has 32 Police Officers plus a Civilian Support Staff.  It provides 24-hour coverage with 24 Uniform (General Duty) Officers, four (GIS) Detectives, two First Nations Police Officers and two Traffic Police Officers.  The remainder of the RCMP Officers constitutes the Detachment Management.
 
The RCMP in Sidney/North Saanich investigates the usual range of criminal offences.  As well, they engage in Crime Reduction Programs by targeting prolific offenders and by checking on their curfews.  Recently, the Detachment conducted two Drug Searches in Sidney that yielded both narcotics and firearms.  The office conducts Marine Enforcement and it supports community volunteers who manage the Auxiliary Constable Program, Speed Watch and Seniors Assistance.
