GUESTS:
Rosemary Kinanu Gituma and her sister Angela.  Rosemary told us about herself.  She is from Nairobi, Kenya – Rotary District 9212.  Rosemary works in Finance and has 2 children attending St. Michael’s School in Victoria.  Rosemary has been a Rotarian for 1 ½ years and her club is a very active and prestigious club in the area.  They have 65 members in their club.
Angela is lives in Victoria and owns land back home in Kenya.   She wants to build an orphanage there in the future.  Angela works in the health care field in Victoria. 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
  1. Our next meeting, September 16th is canceled as the Fall Fair BBQ will be held on Sunday, September 13th.
  1. The Fall Fair BBQ will be held and Roger and Shirley Hind’s home at 2:00.  The food has been organized.
  1. The Greater Victoria Rotary Public Relations committee is looking for a volunteer to attend the meetings.  Cosmo to speak with Tara.
  1. President Cosmo was approached by a rep from Galey Farms.  They are looking to have us present at the farm on October 10, 11, 17, 18, 25, and 26th to run our Lucky Duck, Cork Gun and Ball Pitch games.  They wish to have the games run from 10:00 to 4:00 each of those days.  The club will consider this request.  The club did participate in this project a few years ago.
  1. President Cosmo announced some of the results from the Fall Fair.  Our gross revenue was down by $2,000 from last year.  The entrance fees cost the club $2,300 as opposed to app. $650 last year.  This is a result of the fair board no longer selling discounted 3 day passes to the volunteers.  Dan advised that a deposit of $26,000 was made, net of $2,000 entrance fees costs with another $300 still to be refunded to the cadets.  The gross takes year over year are as follows:

PROGRAM – BUSINESS MEETING
Dan handed out copies of the proposed budget for review and questions.  There were no requests for changes.  Dan made the motion to pass the budget; it was seconded by Linda Leng and passed unanimously by the members. 
 
SERGEANT AT ARMS
None.
 
Happy & Sad Dollars:
Dan had a happy dollar because he received a letter from the father of one of our scholarship winners, Ashley Blair, saying what a positive impact this reward has had on Ashley.  Leta had a happy dollar for the Bingo games at the Fair, Jack MacAulay for Queen Elizabeth, as she is now the longest reigning monarch in British history, John and Linda for their upcoming holiday house boating on a lake in Utah with family and finally from Cosmo, for Ian’s hard work in arranging the manpower for the Fall Fair games.
 
Marble Draw:
Linda had the winning ticket, but unfortunately did not pull the lucky marble.
