The month of February is special in the Rotary calendar.

It is designated World Understanding Month. February also includes the anniversary of the first meeting of Rotary held on 23 February 1905, now designated World Understanding and Peace Day. Let us honour our fellow Rotarians and Rotary’s goal of world peace and understanding by planning programs and activities during this month that emphasizes understanding and goodwill as essential for world peace.

As Rotarians we should be humbled by Rotary’s undertaking to affect change on a global level through simple ideas such as Community Service, education and relationship building between people. Rotary’s commitment and its dedication of resources to projects such as Youth Exchange, Vocational Training Teams, Ambassadorial Scholarships and the eradication of Polio are exemplary. These programs are designed to build a foundation for the future. They are long term solutions to building peace and goodwill among individual citizens through out the world

Through Rotary and the Rotary Foundation, we foster personal relationships that cross borders and form a foundations for peace around the world. World Understanding Month is a chance for our district to plan and promote Rotary’s continued goal for peace and understanding among the people of the world.
